What Does Getting a Group International Travel Quote Look Like?

Published: Jan 1, 2018

J.Y. from Colorado asks:

We purchased insurance from you last year for a Model United Nations trip to Washington, D.C. In February we are planning on leaving overseas and would be interested in getting a quote from you if you offer international travel insurance. The trip would be for 10 high school aged students and two adults (ages 27 and 40). The trip will last from Feb. 18, with a Feb. 26 return to DIA (Denver).

Dan Answers:

Our Student/School Group Protection Plan works very well for this group. After a few email exchanges we established their per-person trip cost is $1,200, and at that trip cost the non-age-rated premium is $41 . The two adults may also be included on this policy for that $41 rate, as this policy will accept up to 20% of the group being adult chaperones.

Total premium for these 12 travelers is $492,and each traveler receives the following trip protection benefits:

Benefits per person (in U.S. Dollars)

Maximum Amount of Coverage

Trip Cancellation

$1,200

Trip Interruption

$1,800

Missed Connection

$500 (3 or more hours)

Trip Delay - 6 hours

$750 ($150/day)

Baggage Delay

$300

Emergency Accident/Sickness Medical Expense

$25,000

Evacuation / Repatriation

$100,000

Assistance Services

Included

And, as an extra bonus, the medical coverage on the Student/School Group Protection Plan is “primary, first-payer” coverage with no deductible.

Had a great experience purchasing trip insurance. The agent was very friendly, helpful, and fully explained the different options. Will be back! - Robert K.
